The Stars secured their spot in the Conference Final by defeating the Winnipeg Jets in six games. The series concluded with a dramatic 2–1 overtime victory in Game 6, where defenseman Thomas Harley netted the game-winning goal on a power play just 1:33 into the extra period. Goaltender Jake Oettinger was instrumental throughout the series, making 22 saves in the decisive game and providing the stability Dallas needed to advance. This marks the Stars' third consecutive appearance in the Western Conference Final.
The Oilers advanced by eliminating the Vegas Golden Knights in five games. The series concluded with a 1–0 overtime win in Game 5, thanks to a goal by Kasperi Kapanen. Playing at home and with two regular season wins already under their belt against the Oilers, the Stars are expected to lean on their structure and slow the game down. With Robertson, Hintz, and Heiskanen driving play, Dallas has the tools to frustrate teams that thrive on speed.
But that control-first style leaves gaps when pressured, and that’s where Edmonton can do real damage. The Oilers have been lethal in transition and on the power play, and with McDavid and Draisaitl in top form, they don’t need many chances to take over a game. Even if Dallas holds possession early, Edmonton’s explosiveness should shine through over sixty minutes.
